my lovely jessy, female staffy is 13 months old, but only weighs 12.5 kg. she is super fit and agile.when will she be fully grown? is it possible she could still fill out?

hiya :) my male staffy is 18months old and hes not long started filling out. I think generally with staffys they tend to get to the height they're going to be 1st before they start to bulk up and build muscle. Give her chance coz once she starts the muscle builds up pretty quickly.
I was also told that hill walking with a harness helps build the muscle up but i'm not sure how true this is, em sure someone else on here will be able to set us straight with that one tho. :D

Sorry Guest,

There are no Staff owners on-line (don't think anyway) at the moment but you should hopefully get plenty of assistance in the morning.  Not sure about size or weight in your breed but at only 13 months she will be nowhere near her full maturity so should certainly fill out, ie. develop more substance etc.  It's probably worth your while joining the forum as there's usually a certain amount of toing and froing required re. questions etc and guests are unable to reply :(

As you may have noticed those few of us up and about are hanging on in here to see how a whelping is progressing - so not much use for anything else at the moment :)   Good luck with more feedback tomorrow, but I think it's safe to say you shouldn't be overly concerned at this stage.

HTH meantime, Regards, Teri :)
edited to add I got it wrong about no-one on your breed being available (typing at the same time  ) - glad help is readily at hand :P

My eldest staffy has taken until over the age of two to fully mature (in body anyway- not in mind lol) :)

It all depends on the lines your dog is from :)

our Staff Giorgia is 14 months and weighs 15.5kg but she is the 'tall' type, long legged and long faced about 17 inches in height. So was her Dad. I understand 18months to 2 years is the norm for full growth but its not something with which we're preoccupied. SO long as she is healthy, her coat is good and her eyes bright we're happy and so is she!

my dog did not stop growen until he was 3 but he did not start to fill out until he was 15/16 months old.  he went stright up at was 17" by the time he was 6 months old.  now he is looking good so dont worry

I agree with ColeyStaff. Has anyone else noticed how all Staffies are instantly recognisable but are all very different?

Mine is petite and his head is still very small but is starting to fill out.

Can someone tell me what 12.5kg is in Stones?

hi caroline... 12.5kg is just short of 2 stone :-)

Thats so strange. Mines about 3 Stone at 8 months and he looks petite to me! He is tall though and not so bulky yet. I dread to think how heavy he will be when he has finished growing!!

Mine didn't stop growing till he was 2.  He's 18" and weighs 19.5 kg.

Hey up don't worry. As long as she is fit healthy and happy does it really matter? My bitch Sal never started to fil out until she was 15 - 16 months old and now some people would say she's "too thin" or "not bulky enough" but I don;t care she's happy healthy and more importantly "loved"

Take care, Karen

i know what you mean caroline, at the minute my staffs neck is nearly wider than his head!!!!! i'm hoping it'll get more in proportion soon as his face is way to cute for a staffys lol
