Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / lower canines of 4 mth OES wrong bite
- By Guest [gb] Date 16.05.05 09:42 UTC
Need advice on the lower canines of my 4 month old OES they are digging into the upper jaw and not aligned up the outer side of the upper jaw, will this need seeing to or will it sort itself out when adult teeth form.  It looks painful as it is making a hole in the upper jaw.  Has been to the vets as he broke his upper canine on the doorstep and i was told to wait and see if it came out if not would have to be extracted, the vet did not notice the problem with the lower ones. What sould i do, very worried.

I would try masaging the gums and encouraging the canines outward.  they do normally align OK but I would see the vet if they have alrewady grown long enough to dig into the gum.

I have seen this corrected by using the method described in the article here

http://www.vin.com/VINDBPub/SearchPB/Proceedings/PR05000/PR00047.htm

It explains very well the method, the criteria for use, and is very simple to do - and the pup will enjoy it !!

Hope this helps
