please help settle an argument. My friend has bred a litter of puppies from her labrador bitch and is going to register them with the KC but her bitch had a litter last year and its only been about 10 months since her last litter so i said to her that the KC wont register the pups because you have to leave it 12 months between litters (this is what ive always been told) but she says that you only have to do that if you are a license breeder and the kennel club dont care if your just a hobby breeder she is positive they will register the pups, is this true?
If it is I am not very impressed with the kennel club because I dont think bitches should get bred every season. i have told my friend this but she says as long as the KC will register her pups she will keep on doing it

The kennel club had to change this rule as the law about 12 months between litters applied to commercial breeders only.  The Kennel club will of course stope registering litters once the bitych has had six, so your friend won't be able to lkeep doing this for the breeding life of the bitch.

I think the KC changed it's stance as they would have had didfficulty if a person had challenged them over this in court and also the system they had in place for waiving the requirement with a Vets support was taking too long to process.

Sadly guest this is true. Puppy farmers must LOVE the KC.

Husky the Kennel club also have to work within the restrictions of law and could easily be taken to court for restrictive practices so they do walk a tricky path when making their rules about registration services.

Unfortunately puppy farming isn't ilegal (It would also be difficult to define as there are many bad breeders who breed from one bitch every season who are as bad as the worst puppy farmers, and there are commercial kennels who keep their stock in good conditions, even if we don't agree with breeding purely for commercial gain), by the government it is considered business like any other.
