Do grooming parlours empty anal glands?

Warm regards Susan

Trained groomers can, if necessary.  Sheep shearers wouldn't know how to!! ;)

Most do, when you are booking ask. If you are looking in Yellow pages the ads usual give a list of what they cover. When we were looking for one and rang round about 6, they all did. What temted me to our was the fact that they had experience of trimming Bichons and we seen the results.

Personally I dont as you can do a lot of damage if it is not done correctly.  I was shown when I was trained but I personally think it is a vet or vetinary nurses job and out local vets do them free of charge.  I believe although I would have to get my policy out to check that it is not covered by the grooming insurance but would have to double check that point.

Oh my god i sent two westies out this morning and i seem to have retrieved two chinese crested dogs, god they have skinned them alive they look like two rats, i usually do them myself but my clippers are blunt, so i thought i would send them to a grooming parlour, what a mistake that was.

Warm regards Susan

That's what sheep shearers do Frank!!  Sorry!  You need to ask if they trim to the breed standard before you hand your babies over! :(

Val they weren't sheep sharers god they've ruined them, i can't believe it what a shame, she said westie heads so i said yes thats fine, the male Charlie has big steps right by his eye, i've never done any training but looked at books and boy i think i could start my own grooming parlour.  I would love to send you the pics but dont know how to do a link.

send it to val@hanvale.com :)

Frank just 'cos they've got a posh shop/parlour doesn't automatically mean that they know what they're doing, sadly.  It's as difficult to find a good groomer as it is to find a good breeder!!
