Is it possible for a siberian husky to have 3-4 hours of excercise a day. 1 hour in the morning 3-4 hours in the evening. Plus will it be suitable for it to live in a flat and stay there with a rabbit for six hours of the day.

I am sure an adult husky would be happy with that much excersise though I would be surprised if you could find that much time and energy :D

In many countries where few people live in houses and apartment dwelling is the orm people do even own this breed, but generally the neighbours are more used to dogs being owned in such circumstances and perhaps more tolerant than they seem to be in the UK.

As they are a vocal and active breed I cannot see how you would not sooner or later come into conflict with enighbours and landlords.

Also housetraining is much more difficult living in a flat.

As for the Rabbit if it is kept in a secure cage and not in the same rom as the Husky when you are not directly supervising then OK, but I cannot see this primitive breed being reliable with small furries it would view as lunch a bit like Sylvester and Tweety :D

If your in the UK I wouldn't advise you to have this breed and think long and hard before having any active noisy breed.

What about a Whippet?

Whippets and the bunny are definitely not a good idea  They love their game and would have no trouble of making a meal out of it!
In my opinion a husky is too big for a flat as they're big dogs and need a lot of space.
I think you're much better off going for a much smaller breed which would be more suitable for your accommodation (cavalier king charles spaniel or dashound type size)

A husky isn't totally unfeasible for a flat, though obviously it's not ideal, but with that amount of exercise it would be acceptable. They're not as big as most people assume, though they are of course very destructive. If you really must get a Sibe, then I would go for the heavier American show type as they usually don't have the working attitude, and seem to be quieter and more placid, though nothing can be guarenteed. Remember also that Siberians MUST NEVER BE LET OFF LEAD, so that means that you will also be having 3 or 4 hours of exercise a day, every day, rain or shine. Are you prepared to keep that up for the next fifteen years? And I know most Sibes can and will eat through doors if there's a tasty treat like a rabbit on the other side!

MUST NEVER BE LET OFF LEAD

I admit i've only met a handful of sibes,a few of them have been off lead, with no probs :) I have heard the above comment before on here and asked the last off lead sibe owner about it,to which she replied(her words) "Sibes are not for lazy owners, they can be reliably let off lead with an immense amount of patient training" Her dog walked perfectly to heel and came back each and every time she called, she showed me like 10 times

I also asked another guy with one who was off lead and he got offended,i think, and just scoffed and walked off with his sibe following close behind ;)

Ofcourse not all sibes i have seen have been off the lead, there alot who are always kept on a short leash :(

Guest my honest heartfelt opinion would be to wait until you get a house before bringing a sibe into your life. What would happen if you were laid up with the flu, forexample, would you still be willing to trodge around for 2-3 hours, possibly in the rain or snow? If you were to keep a dog like the sibe in a flat then you must be prepared to walk him for hours each and every day for the rest of it's life,i dont know many folk who could 100% commit to this without fail???
Wouldnt you consider a smaller breed who doesnt need as much exercise? Then it wouldnt matter so much if you missed a day of walkies here or there :) Arent sibes very people orientated and dont like being left alone for long periods?

Guest why dont you join,so you can answer the questions and explain your situation better, especially the rabbit part  ;)
