Guest,

As you've left things far too late to get hold of the Book of the Bitch or similar "must have" reading for anyone owning an entire bitch, I strongly suggest you keep your bitch *right beside you at all times* while immediately searching on Google under "whelping" :(

Fortunately there are lots of websites containing valuable information on "the signs" - some even with videos - although nothing makes up for having sought out all possible information long before planning a mating.

NB. Have your car filled with petrol and your vet's emergency telephone details immediately to hand.   Good luck.  Teri

The pups do usually go quiet a day or two before whelping in my experience.  Hope all goes well with your girl.  Have you got your towels, hot water bottles etc. ready?  I;ve never known such an exciting but anxious time in my life, but they are worth all the hard work that you put in in the end.

If you live anywhere near a Pets at Home they should have books there.  PAH definately sell The Book of the Bitch and one called The Whelping and Rearing of Puppies (ringbound) - this one can be a little scarey to read but prepares you for any problems (hopefully none :) ) - If you rang first perhaps someone could collect them for you?

Good luck - hope all goes well.

In addition to perrodeagua's list don't forget the Brandy/Whisky - for you, when its all over :D :D
