hellooo to you all,i much enjoy this champdogs forum so therefore would like to ask i still need some info about crufts ive been reading as much as poss but still cant quite understand some rules.
to enter crufts you have to quilify at least 1st/2nd/3rd @ championship show under, is it to or three diff judges?
also what about puppies puppy/junior classes over age of six months does that also mean they to have to quailify???(i'll be surprized if this is so)but it states before the age of 12 months so i am unsure.if which???
thankyou in advance for your help.
love steph

Your getting Champions and Crufts qualifications confused.

You need 1st 2nd or 3rd at a Show where CC's are on offer for your Breed in (and these are the only qualifying classes) Minor Puppy, Puppy, Junior, Post Graduate, Limit, or Open.

You can get life qualification by getting your Stud book Number.

You can qualify for the next year by winning a class at Crufts. But 2nds & 3rds at Crufts only count in the classes I listed.

A Puppy qualifies in the normal way, but you enter Crufts according to age not the class you qualified from. Crufts only allows pups over 9 months to compete....it has special puppy & special junior classes to cater for the strange age limits it sets (this is where only 1st will qualify you for the next year....confusing huh

If your breed doesn't have CC's then you qualify at Champ Shows where your breed has classes

.....and then you have the.....

Qualified dogs to young to compete in 2002 :A dog who gained a qualifying award before January 7,2002 but was under 9 months of age on 7 March 2002, and therefore, ineligible for competition at Crufts 2002, is eligible for Crufts 2003 without further qualification

It's just as well Holly is too much of a maggot to win anything, all these rules are just far too confusing :D :D

If your breed has no CC status you can also qualify in AVNSC at Champ Shows if you do not have breed classes, only 1st 2nd or 3rd in the above mentioned classes. You can't qualify in things like Av Rare Breed.
- By Leigh [gb] Date 29.05.02 09:28 UTC
Or if your breed is on Import Register :-(
- By Sarah Date 29.05.02 09:42 UTC
I never realised that about AVNSC & non CC breeds. It's interesting really as you get loads more chances to qualify than a breed that has just got CC's and perhaps only 5 sets

Yes it is a bit disappointing the yeqar after an up and coming breed gets its first sets of CCs, as the numbers seen at Crufts tends to drop with the fewer opportunities to Qualify!
- By Sarah Date 29.05.02 09:44 UTC
Cheers Leigh, I'd forgotten that about the pups, I knew about IR though, durned rare things

Do you know that import register gundogs, can qualify in the field and get a stud book number, but still will not be intitled to go to Crufts? Moan moan moan
- By Sarah Date 29.05.02 12:12 UTC
No I didn't realise that either, how bizarre :(
- By dianep [gb] Date 29.05.02 15:44 UTC
Now I would never moan about anything like this:rolleyes:

Another one is that an Obedience champion border Collie caqn go in breed classes, having perhaps never ever been shown. Isn't very likely as most of the Obedience Border Collies are not on the KC breed register but on the working Register with the designation Working sheepdog!

They actually have there own working classes at Crufts and breed shows Brainless and you would be suprised to find many are Kc or Isds registered.:D Gillian

A Beagle that has won a 1st prize at a hound show held under the Rules & Regs of the Masters of Harriers & Beagles Association can enter Crufts even if it is not KC Registered. JH

you used to be able to qualify in rare breed classes, did it change?
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 25.10.02 13:03 UTC
Steph,

Do this qualifications count across all breeds - or do they differ for numerically weaker breeds like the stud book qualifier?

Specific question is on Griffons, as I always think my Rough Collie answers apply to other breeds, and don't want to misinform a friend.

Stud book qualifications do differ breed to breed. Once a year all the breeds are put into a breed band called A,B,C etc. In the small breeds 1st, 2nd or 3rd in Limit or Open in the very popular ones only 1st in Open counts. If you win a CC, RCC or JW you also get a stud number. Sorry I don't know the breed bands of hand, may be they are on the KC site. Ja:)kie

Yes, I know about the Stud Book bands, thanks. It was the Crufts qualifier I was querying.
