Sheena my Akita as been down recently. She isnt eating too well and just the last few days I can see she as lost weight. Her last season was about 7 months ago so in the last weeks I have been thinking it could be this. She seems down and a bit depressed although as Im writing this Ive noticed today she seems a bit brighter.
She is eating tit bits its just her usual food she isnt eating. I have been feeding her cereals which she she as been eating better than her usual food.
Everyone keeps saying to me its the weather but I know this cant go on for much longer.
She was only at the vets about a month ago for her booster and the vet as usual gave her a good examination saying everything was fine.
Do you think Im worrying over nothing. Like I say just today she as perked up a bit.
Greatfull of any advice, also what will be the thing to feed her to build her back up.
I believe you know your own dog best so if she's not feeling right take her to the vets.
Warm regards Susan

Were the Xrays looked at by an orthopaedic specialist vet or just your oen GP vet. It isn't unusual for Vets to be quite out where assessing hip xrays is concerned.

Sorry folks replied to the wrong Akita post !!!

If she is not right, take her to the vet and if it continues then ask to see a specialist. I had this with my dog, he was really down, not eating, lethergic and generally not himself, although my vet couldn't find the cause, I managed to get an appointment with the specialist and the tests that she did confirmed that he had cancer. He died the next day while still at the vets.
You don't say how old your dog is, but I would certinly get her checked out. they are like children so I would certinly not say that you were worrying over nothing, best put your mind at ease.
Hope she feels better soon.
Thanks for all replies I will keep them all in mind. Sheena seems a whole lot better today, more active and happy and she eaten her usual food good. I will keep a close eye on things over the weekend. She is 8 in August so not too old but no spring chicken.

Hello there,
My husband and i have a two year old akita, male though, but my dad has a gsd bitch and would somtime suffer phantom pregnancies, if this comes about again try giving here a soft toy.
>if this comes about again try giving here a soft toy.
No no no no NO!
Don't give her a soft toy! That'll only prolong it. Take all toys away.
Dont think its a phantom, she is still well today.
