In this area Tesco sells Gusto (made by Autarky) but they don't sell the Autarky food with all the herbs in :( :(
I have fed my dogs on Autarky in the past. I have to say I didn't think anything one way or another, I thought it sounded like a good natural dog food. One of my dogs has canine epilepsy and to be honest I decided to change my food to this one because it thought it would be better for him. Over a period of a week it was almost as if he had gone into a daze. When we were out walking he would wander off and not be able to find me. He is a lovely dog but he seemed to be constantly confused!!! The only thing I had changed was the food so I changed it and within a couple of days he was back to his normal self. I have since carried out a lot of research into pet foods etc., and would love to feed my dogs a barf diet but when I tried it I found it really difficult to get the correct quantities and one of them ended up putting on weight. My dogs are how on Burns and have been for about 6 months. All I can say is that the difference in their behaviour is unbelievable - all for the better. Does anyone know where I can get an idiot's guide to feeding naturally, which looks at different breeds of dogs because all my dogs are different ages, breeds and sizes!(?) I don't like to make it easy for myself but it keeps me on my toes!

Just out of interest dogdeli, what breeds are your dogs?
Julie
Julie, I have 2 collie x (one almost 9 years and one almost 7), a working cocker (almost 3 and he is small!) and a Bracco Italiano pup who is 10 months. I know all the info about natural feeding etc., it is just getting it right in quantities. It would be great if I could get a book that could set me out a menu for each dog (weight wise), each day of the week I would gladly follow it until I get the hang of it. I don't want much do I?

Dogdeli is there such a book as idiot's guide to feeding naturally, which looks at different breeds of dogs
or do you just wish there was :D As i too would be interested in reading a book like that!
I really wish there was!!!! You have to start somewhere and my first attempt ended up with a fat little cocker (poor wee soul!) - all the others were fine. I'm also a bit concerned about the pup as I don't want to do her any damage i.e. not enough nutrients etc., I think it's more the weight thing. If I knew how much to feed for the weight then I would be fine. I think I am one of these people that thinks they're not getting enough. I would probably be a bad mother!!! All my kids would be little barrels!
I did give this a go but unfortunately just didnt work for my dogs. Now one is on ProPlan and doing the best he ever has done and the other is on JWB and doing well. What works for one dog wont necessarily work for the other as I have found out.

I have just put all mine on Autarky & they love it! No problems, no-one refuses it. £10.49 per 15kg bag from Costco, what a bargain.
I have fed my dog on Autarkey (summer years) with more than the maximum amount per day for a working dog. I exercise my dog a fair amount but I wouldn't say he exercised as much as a working dog. I also based the amount on the 30-35Kg weight bracket when my dog was 29.5Kg and even gave him 10-15% more as he seemed a bit hungry. Well, I was concerned to larn that he had lost 1Kg in weight (vets scales both times) in less than 4 weeks.
I have gone back to Bakers for a while to see if it is just the food!
He is a large Border Collie of 14months.
