Can anyone help? I need some menally stimulating things for my parsons terrier puppy (5 mnths) to do in the evening, that aren't anything to do with her kong or bones as I need them for night time, as she is not good on her own yet and has only worked her way onto the landing at night -slowly does it!

However having spent all day doing the horses and keeping occupied and doing her clicker training and work.... I want a break in the evening, and want her to ocupy her time and be mentally tired before bed as she is walked but not old enough to do too much excercise!

Any ideas?

I taught my first collie to find things. It is really easy and has now extended to finding his lead, my shoes, the remote control for the TV, his bowl, and several of his toys all of which he knows by name. As your terrier was originally bred to go to ground after foxes I would think that finding thing would be just the thing for her! yeah that would be great, she already does sit, down, shake hands, roll over, crawl and give 5! all by clicker training in two months, cause we didn't ger her till she was 16 weeks!

You sit on the sofa.  You turn on the tellie. You throw a ball.  Buffy brings the ball back to you.  You throw the ball.  Buffy brings the ball back to you.  You throw the ball, buffy brings the ball back to you.   :-)  She's learned how to retrieve an object and bring it back to you.   You've been able to exercise her and watch tellie at the same time.

It sounds like your pups is pretty much on the go all day and evening.  Maybe rather than more things to so she need to learn to settle, as she needs to learn that sometimes she should just chill.  Why not have her settle quietly by your feet in the evenings for some quiet time.  If necessary have her on a lead, adn when she fidgets (and you know it isn't the toilet or a drink she needs) then tell her to settle.

My 5 year old bitch at 9 months had never learnt to setttle, she had been crarted if she ogt too much but had never learnt to settle down in the presence of people or other distractions.

I started at training classes just getting ehr to lie down quietly rtather than joining in as she was very over excited.  I did the same at home and built the time up gradually.  this training was preceded or sometimes followed by a good walk/play session.

Buffy is brilliant to settle, she spends time while i'm at work and with the horses asleep in her crate or bed and plays with her chews and things but at about 8pm and shes been really good and quiet shes ready to do something before we give  her time settle for bed. Shes great at fetch and her tricks, but I was just wondering what ideas there where and games to make her work something out and use  her brain... shes a clever little bu**er!  l like the find items option! Its easy to get stuck in a ruck a do the smae things... was just looking for something new.

Its time for some lunch and  (buffy has a nap and a biscuit) before we go and see my mum for her birthday... i've been teaching her to carry the card without tearing it up into shreds!!!
