I have just been told that my dog has around a week left of her pregnancy, and wwas just wondering if anyone could tell me does a dogs waters break just like a a humans. I have noticed that she has had a liitle discharge every time she goes to the toilet this week, and just today she stood up from her bed and as she did so I heard a gush of water mot sure if this is just wee or her waters breaking.

What do you mean, you have been told she has a week left. Were you not there when the mating took place? If so,you should know when the pups are due? Did you not at least read up on canine pregnancy and birth when you decided to mate your bitch? If she had a gush of water it sounds as if she has started labour. The slight discharge you mention is quite normal if it is as you described it. Did she refuse her breakfast this morning? That is another sign that labour is imminent. Also, you say she stood up from her bed, I do hope this is a proper whelping box with pig rails, not just a bog-standard plastic dog bed.
Look, canine pregnancy is approximately 63 days from the date of mating (that's 9 weeks). If she is now giving birth, don't leave her until she is finished. If she wants to go out into the garden, go with her every time in case she produces a puppy when she has a wee. Don't let her go more than 3 hours between puppies, if she does get to your vet immediately. We could all write pages on how to revive apparently dead puppies, how to look after the nursing bitch, etc. but really it's all too late for this now. But at least go to the library and take out some dog books - it doesn't matter what breeds they cover they all have sections on breeding. If you read several, you'll get some idea.
