Yes it could mean that she is in season. No it isn't a stupid question :) If you don't know, you need to ask :) Try and get hold of The Book Of The Bitch from amazon ..excellent handbook for anyone that has a bitch.

You're right, it is usual for there to be bleeding when a bitch is in season, but some bitches bleed more than others, and some keep themselves very clean. Has she been cleaning herself more? Has she been weeing more when she's out? Those are both signs of incipient season.

If you dab her vulva with a clean white tissue every morning when she first gets up, you'll doubtless soon see a pink stain. Count that as Day 1 of her season, and remember to keep her away from other dogs for at least 21 days. Don't even let her alone in your garden.
:)

Don't worry! It's never silly to ask if you want to know the answer. :) But I'd certainly buy The Book of the Bitch - it's very useful.

My Lydia was swollen for nearly 2 weeks before the colour came in and is now having a normal season.  Lana is now swollen but still no colour and the boys are slightly interested.  I think that she's getting fed up of mum checking her with the toilet roll all the time.  I've been waiting a long time for her to come into season and it's stil not happened as yet, though looks as though it's nearly time :d

But yes you can defo tell !
