When determining how many breed classes a judge is allowed to judge what is mean't by 'depends on the band that the breed is in' ??

Thanks a lot. :-)

Hi Clare, the 'bands' that a breed falls into is announced, I think, every year and affects the awards needed to enter Crufts. What a judge can judge at any given show, I think, is decided by the breed council of the breeds in question. ie one breed council may decide that before a judge can judge 5 classes they must have attended and passed an assesment at a judging seminar held by one of that breeds clubs and have already judged 30 dogs of that breed at shows where less classes are available. A judge may then placed on a Breed Judging Lists. The list the judge is put on depends on the criteria the council has decided. If that does not make to much sense you know why I have said 'I think' . Jackie H

Thank you very much Jackie. It made perfect sense it just took me reading it three times to understand  But don't worry, it's not your fault I'm thick ;-)

Thanks again, seriously your message really is helpful. :-)

Sorry Clare, The bands announced each year affects the way you can get a studbook number which only affects crufts entry as a secondery matter. The Crufts entry is the same for all breeds that have CC's - that is 1,2,3rd in M Puppy, Puppy, Junior, P. Grad, Limit or Open. Was not tring to confuse you, just trying to be brief and left a chunk out. Jackie H

Thanks again Jackie :-)

Are the bands announced on the 1st January or thereabouts and run Jan - Dec ? Presumably if someone were to be asked to judge this year (2002) then because the bands will have been announced they should already know what they can and can't judge for this year ??

Err....No - the bands are not anything to do with judging which is in the hands of the Breed councils (with, when it comes to awarding CC the KC's approval) E-mail me and I'll give you my phone no. and try to explain to the extent of my knowledge. Jackie H
