Hi all :) My bitch was due in season about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Showing all the signs - swollen vulva, constant licking, frequent urination on walks. So I wasn't surprised when I noticed a spot of blood on the carpet last week - However, I haven't seen blood since! Whilst grooming her I check her over and her vulva is still puffy, she's temperamental and clingy (all usual for her during her season) - Can it be that she is just very very clean? Is there such a thing as a phantom season? I have cancelled all my group walks and classes!

she could be having a blind season, which is having a season but no signs of blood, one of our girls has blind seasons, and went on to have 2 healthy litters.

When my oldest girl had seasons (before she was speyed) she'd keep herself so clean that you'd never really notice there was anything up :(

My 3 generations of miniature poodles all have "silent" seasons, but they still produced litters. Obviously if you want to breed its difficult to know exactly when they have started the season, but I can usually tell when they are "receptive" to a male dog.
