This might sound stupid but i'm not sure what a foundation bitch is i've seen it on many site, is it a bitch a breeder uses to go off as she has very good confirmation compared to the standards?  
I know what i mean but i can't put it in words.

It is normally the bitch that founded the kennel/line.  My foundation bitch is the oldest who I bought, and all the others are her decendants.
