Your vets phone number by the phone

A camera!! :)
A book or magazine to read, you could be there for a long time. I'm also on day 53!!! Good look
i have vets day and night number in my phone, i must remember to charge batteries for digi cam, ive bought some dvds and a laptop so i can sit in the room on the floor with her all the way through

Maybe you could do a simple step - by - step poster type thing, a sumary of the stages of whelping - ok dis charge colours etc coz when things happen so fast I found it messy and hard looking through my books - just a suggestion.
Also dont forget disinfectant. I use Dettol.
Good luck with it all

It is my understanding that Dettol, and all disinfectants that go cloudy in water, contain phenol which is dangerous to animals, I always use Savlon or Miltons.
It's my first time too, so I know exactly how you feel, I'm the same.
Hi
My bitch is a Bull mastiff, we are on day 55 and she is very restless, this morning she was sick but her temperature hasn't gone done again since Saturday morning. I'm starting to get butterflies now!!
How is your bitch doing?
hi we are on day 55 now, abbies stopped eating her temp is down but only 0.1 c she is restless, im worse im so nervous i cant eat i cant sleep and im sleeping with her during the night just incase she is due a week tommorrow she looks ready to pop now she is huge

Havbe you got a heat lamp or bed warmer - I expect you just forgot to write it on your posted list. If not, then when the bitch is whelping the room temp must be 80 degrees F or so for the first week.
I use Dettox spray for wiping out the whelping box every day.
Also buy some Welpi milk powder just in case the milk supply is not too good too begin with or in case you need to bottle feed. If all goes well and you dont need it for the pups, it is a great drink for mum to have a couple of times a day once she has whelped.
You may need a bin or bag to put afterbirths in if the bitch taked too many ( more than 5?) if you get a chance to get them LOL.
Midicinal brandy is essential - a drop on the tongue of a pup that wont breathe almost always gets them gasping LOL and if the pups dont need it you can toast their safe arrival when its all over. :-)
A hot water bottle with a fluffy cover ( ideally a microwave one) and a plastic storage type box big enough to contain as many puppies as you expect.
These are indispensable if you have to go to the vet in the middle of the night, also just in case you need to keep some pups seperate for a time.
Make sure the car has plenty of petrol and your mobile is topped up and charged up. A waterproof seat cover ( I got mine in a pound shop) and lots of large old towels to cover the car seat if need be .
Good luck
