Topic Other Boards / Foo / taking for ever to sell my flat!!
- By Thompson1 [gb] Date 06.05.05 14:19 UTC
Is it only me or are other people finding it really difficult to sell at the moment.  My falt has been on the market for 8 months and I have reduced it by 14,000 and still no offer!!!  Its really getting me down and wondered if anyone else is having this problem or if it was just me?

I'm not selling but I do keep an eye on the property market around me and I have certainly noticed things are very much slower with prices not going up at all and some properties being reduced.  Your estate agent should be able to tell you what the trend is round your way just know and make him work for his money by advising you how you can make your's stand out from the rest.  If there is nothing more you can do in terms of tidying the property up chivvy up the agent to do the max in marketing terms.  Don't forget though, the prices of properties you might want to buy next will also be down so should not affect your ability to hitch up the ladder a bit.

Yeah tried the agent and they just say try reducing it, but the market is slow.  however I cant wait, I have a handicapped brother who need to come and live with me as my mum died recently and I am really stuck.  I have my eye on a new build property, however they cant take my house as part exchange as its only lease hold.  someone did say its possible to ask the landlord to sell part of the freehold s it became a shared free hold however i imagine that would be quite expensive

We had our house valued last week and the estate agent said the housing market has slowed and they arent selling as fast

The housing market has slowed also because of the election so will be interesting to see if picks up now :)

The market here seems reasonably steady :)

I do hope it does pick up my hubby is a developer and he is really struggling at the moment.  Then he can return to keeping me to the way I am accustomed!!

My house has been on since January - things are VERY slow and we have reduced to get a bit more interest. Just heard today that we have a viewer for Sunday - fingers crossed ;)

how did the viewing go? I have had my house on since January and accepted an offer last week. I am panicing now because I will be moving from london near heathrow to clacton on sea in essex. Have lived in london all my life and am very nervous about moving away to new area leaving friends and family behind. Also will be leaving my job so will be looking for work when I get down there. I will be coming to Clacton on wednesday to view some houses. Have got 10 appointments at the moment. Does anybody live near this area as I would like to know what parts to avoid and also if it would be easy to find work.

Hi Sue

Hav'nt heard from the Estate Agents so I'm assuming that they won't be putting in an offer :(.  I'ts such a pain as I spent all morning rushing round tidying up etc and they spent 20 minutes looking round and thats it !.

We used to live in Basildon  ( YUK !) - not too far from Clacton - I don't know the reputation of the different areas but I did like Leigh on Sea better than Clacton when we drove through the area - good luck with the move :D
