I've just purchased some software but I'm having trouble installing it.  The message I'm getting is that the CD Rom drive is full.  I'm no expert but I thought the CD Rom was just for viewing, not for storing info. Someone suggested temporarily disabling the anti-virus agent but this didn't make any difference.

Just wondering whether anyone has any idea what the problem could be ?

Is the software compatible with your operating system?

As far as I can tell, Sandra, yes it is.  It starts to install but then says I need 64mb to run it, which I do have.  Bit of a mystery really :)

you need 64mb of RAM to run the program, have you got a lot of programs running in the back ground?  Maybe you could turn a few off, the RAM is the system memory.

No Sandra, nothing running in the background - except for me out of the door when the frustration gets too much ! :)

what about trying to turn off the firewall while you install it, dont forget to turn it back on after though

So if you go to start, run then type in msconfig, ok, click the end tab with startup, make sure there aren't any programs running there that doesn't need to be, if there are, just untick the box ok it, then restart.

See if that helps at all.

what is the software? what are the requirements and what is the spec of your pc?

If your getting the message 64mb required to run it then most likely you need to install more memory. Although you might have enough other programs run in the background without us realising which cant be turned off so they will eat at the memory so leaving you wanting more to run more complicated programs. Also adding more memory will help your pc run faster as it wont be stuggling to compenstate for sharing it around. You will only be allowed to add so much as the motherboard can only take so much. A trip to a pc shop with your pc specs should hopefully sort you out
You say you have 64mb. If thats all the memroy you have you might be able to go upto 256mb or even 512mb depending on your setup
64mb is not a lot nowdays to run programs minimum to run smoothly is normally 128mb but 256mb is best if your on a budget, basically buy the most memory your pc can handle if you can afford it.
