We have 2 border collie pups 10 weeks old.One is brilliant in the car - lays down and is fine. Ben the other one tends to be car sick on even the shortest journeys. He usually lays down quite happily but after about 10 minutes he is sick. We dont take them out until at least 3 hours after a feed. Is there anything else we can do to help him. We are going on a long journey in 5 weeks time and I would like him to be happy in the car.
You could try giving a ginger biscuit about half an hour before you set off. Ginger is a good stomach settler and a good way to get the dog to take it is in the form of a biscuit. Works for a lot of puppies, but not all.
Where in the car do they travel ? I usually travel young puppies who are car sick in the middle of the car For some reason it seems to stop them being upset
I must add my dogs are always crated in the car in custom made crates
i found eventually after trying everything that crating my girls in the car as pups stopped the car sickness pretty quickly dont forget to cover the cage and gradually remove it.
Thanks for the tip we have tried ginger biscuit on Ben - seems to help have only taken him on 5 - 10 minute trips and so far so good. The onloy problem is my husband getting addicted to ginger biscuits. Thanks for the advice
