I have read all about kc reg dog's and know that is the done thing and i agree totally to some extent.But if you know your dog was a registered dog in a different country,How do you go about this when the previous owners tell you they will pass on paper work and don't?
Any advice would be helpful here,be it constructed or just jive, i need advice

You could write to the Kennel Club or registration Office in the dogs country of origin and explain the problem to them and ask if they could help you in anyway, explain that you now own this dog and the previous owner had promised to forward the papers to you but have failed to do so. Did you get a bill of sale when you purchaed the dog to be able to enclose a copy of this also it may help

Once you have done this and you get the papers from the original Kennel Club you can apply to register it with our KC.  You can download the form (Registering an imported dog).  They do require a certified 3 generation pedigree form the other Kennel club, but many KC have this as part of the registration document, or you may have to purchase one seperately.

It took 8 months to get the papers for my dog from Spain and he was in both my name and the person who bred him.  Also someone that I trust.  So don't know how long you've waited or which country but it can take some time :d

He is from germany and i have been waiting for a good while now.I did try ringing the german kennel club but got no where,don't really think the lady understood me to be honest.

Have you got anything in writing?

not about his registation but i have all his details from when he was flown over here and his quarentine(sp) papers his vet book and that.The guy i got him from was splitting up with his wife and she supposedly had the other papers and he was going to forward them on to me at a later date.
