I live in Norwich and am a single mum of 2 girls age 12 & 14yrs - I work at Virgin Money part-time and have a 3 bedroom det house with
decent sized fully enclosed garden.  My girls have been in love with cocker spaniels for a long time and we did previously have a German short haired pointer but my ex husband got custody of her so we have got experience with animals.

the question I would like to ask is if you would know of any rehoming centres for cockers in this area or within a 100mile radius.  I would love to have a puppy but could probably only afford to go up to £300.  I dont know if any of the breeders have dogs that are not classed as being able to show or runts that they would maybe like to sell at a reasonable price!! I am prepared to come to see the dogs and for someone to do a home check.  We are a close knit little family who would love a puppy or dog up to 3yrs.  we would prefer a bitch if possible but dont really mind.   It would be well looked after and excercised very regularly.  we are all at home most of the time so we could give her a lot of love and attention.
I would love a reply to let me know what would be my best course of action.

I would definately go the rescue route as Melodysk suggests, a cut price puppy is likely to cost you far more in terms of health and temperament problems in the long run.  If rescue don't have anything to suit I think you would be better to leave it a year, or whatever, and save another £100 to get you into the realms of a decent puppy from a respectable breeder, the running costs in terms of food, vaccinations, insurance, kennels etc will be the same and possibly less to pay in terms of vets fees.

Definately try Cocker Rescue, if they havent any at the moment they may know of one coming up.  Good luck.  Caz
