Topic Dog Boards / Health / Dog Motion Sickness - Any Cure?

My two year old lurcher has a tendency to get motion sickness whilst travelling in the back of our landrover. Unfortunately, as he was a 'rescue dog', we did not have the opportunity to get him acclimatised from a young age and I dare say in his previous life he never travelled much.  Sometimes he's OK and sometimes not. Can anyone recommend any treatments/medication (one which won't knock him out for the count).

Herbal treatment Ginger tablets/ ginger mixed with pate or cheese, only a small amount is needed.  Give about 1/2 hour before travelling.  Other than this make sure that the dog hasn't been fed for a few hours before  so that the tummy is empty (less likely to feel sick ;) )  I was the worst traveller but found out about ginger as an adult and now don't even have to take it most of the time, only if I have to bus it :D

Ginger tablets can be found in most pet shops :)

Yes we use travel sickness pills from the pet shop. They are just ginger tablets or as already said ginger biscuits.
