Topic Dog Boards / Showing / stakes and AV classes
- By ClaireyS Date 03.05.05 19:44 UTC
I was having a think whilst at various shows at the weekend that maybe I should enter the stakes and AV classes, it seems a waste to me to drive for miles only to have someone take a quick look at your dog and then in my case get thrown out, I thought being in more than one class might make it more worthwhile, even if I do get thrown out of both :D :D

What I want to know is what effect would these  classes have if I say won in breed ?  and is it AV classes at open shows and stakes classes for champ shows ?

Thanks

Claire

Hi Claire, if your puppy won say, best puppy in breed, he would be eligible for the puppy group. Mostly, the AV classes are judged after the groups in any case. If you won puppy group 1, it would be a good idea to to withdraw from subsequent variety competition, to remain eligible for best puppy in show. :)

There are sometimes stakes at Open shows as well as Champ shows.

Classes that have some form of prise.  Used to be money but often is vouchers for product by the company sponsoring the classes.
