Topic Dog Boards / General / Puppy training classes too soon

I have had someone recommended to me who has puppy classes in about 5 minutes car drive from where I live so they seem perfect, however, there is a training course starting on the 16 May and in their first email to me they said that this might be too soon as our puppy isn't having her first injection until tomorrow (8 week birthday) and that they were running another one starting at the end of June, but that the May one may be put back due to numbers.  I replied thanking her but saying that I didn't really want to wait until the end of June but if the May one was delayed to let me know.  They have now come back to me saying that if I sign up there will be enough numbers to start on 16 May and it would be fine for my puppy to go so long as she has had both injections and is in good health and I carry her from the car to the building.  I am now concerned that they just want the numbers to start the class and that this is not a good idea as I know you have to wait a certain amount of time after the second injection, but as she is my first puppy I would really appreciate any opinions on this as I know I could be worrying over nothing, but always best to ask those in the know!

Many thanks for any opinion on this.

My pup started training classes as soon as she had her first injection. I personally think the sooner the better with regards to training and socialisation, although i carried her from the car to the building until her vaccs were complete. As long as all the other dogs who use the hall are vaccinated up to date i don't see a problem. Having had one pup start training late at 5 months and one start at 8 weeks i can certainly see the difference, and given the chance will always start them off early.
