My 13yr old daughter and I have our little 14wk old JR pup Milo. Well her best friend who lives round the corner has a 16 wk old Shih- zu (sp) bitch.
Anway my daughter asked her friend if she would like to start walking her pup with her and milo round the block for 10 mins after school each night.
Her friend agreed but later rang to say her Mother had said no she couldn't.
The reason you will just not believe  . You can't walk them together because Milo is male and hers female and her female hasn't been Spayed yet and she doesn't want puppies  Are people really this thick

TBH, she may not know as much as you, but I'd just be pleased that she is taking precautions so her dog doesnt have pups :) Most idiots WANT to breed asap.

Yes, I'm afraid I know other people who don't realise a bitch has to be in season to be mated, and won't let them mix with dogs at all for fear of pregnancy.

I've even known one woman keep her spayed bitch away from males because "I don't want them to mate"!!!

Yes don't get me wrong I am pleased to stop any unwanted pups, but she has asked for my help on every aspect of bringing up her puppy, which again I am pleased about as shows she is responsible asking for help.
But then she just assumed I would put her dog in a situation to become pregnant and said I was irresposible to do that.   I have found it all quite amusing as I honestly didn't realise people still thought like that.

Hehehe, read your post on SU, and then on here and completely confused myself!!!!

I would take her to one side and quietly explain about seasons etc, and that socialising her pup with others is VERY important, as i would be worried that her pup isnt going to get the socialisation it needs.

However like the others have said, at least she isnt wanting to breed straighta way like so so many people do!
