Hi everyone,

I recently rescued a doberman pinscher from a backyard breeder and I am not sure what her age is.  Her canines are all chipped and her front teeth are all "sanded" down to where her gum line is.  She is in good health.  Do you think since all her front teeth are sanded down she might be older than 8 or 9.  I was told from the rescue that the owner thinks she is around 6 but is it possible for dogs to have such chipped teeth?  Her muzzle also has some whites on it so I think she should be older than 6 years of age.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It is almost impossible t0 tell age past about 18 months (when they still have those lovely peraly new teeth).  Soem dogs age faster than others and some will ahve poor teeth due to bad nutriotion, and a dog that chewed a lot due to hunger or boredom could have very worn teeth at quite a young age.

Also generally dobermanns age faster than a small or medium size dog.

The amount of frosting is irelevenat as some get this at a year old and some show no grey for years.

Hi Guest
some dogs love munching on stones- which can damage the teeth :(
