I think they still insure you for everything else that the vaccinations don't cover but I think I would declare it 'cos insurance companies love to get out of claims and they may get funny about a lack of annual check up or something like that. If you tell them from the outset they can't claim that they did not know that.
Thanks isabel i am insured with petplan but it's really expensive at £29 a month. How good is the actual Kennel clubs insurance do they pay out?
Thanks frank

Frank, Try Saga they do a good one and you do not have to be over 50 for this insurance I have been with them for years and had no trouble I pay £400 for three dogs and am covered upto and including £3.5 million. When my boy died they paid for all treatment and his purchase price without any question.

We don't have insurance on our dogs - partly because there are so many restrictions on older dogs ( and I have 3 'oldies'). We put away £30 each month to cover any emergency vet fees - this is for 6 dogs and so far this system has worked well - we've had a couple of expensive vet bills in the past and also had to fund two spaying costs within 3 weeks of each other ( both for medical reasons) and there was plenty in the kitty to cover the amounts :D.

PS also to add that we only vaccinate our dogs twice yearly after their first full course and stop once they get to the age of 10
I think you will find that if any of your dogs catch any of the diseases they should have been vaccinated against the insurance company wont pay out and I would imagine they would check with your vet. I, like you, dont like filling my dogs full of drugs but one does agility so must be vaccinated. I did speak to my vets who have told me that they vaccinate against one lot of diseases one year and another lot the next which seems fairly sensible to me.
As to insurance I am just about to swop from Pinnacle to Marks & Sparks. I have two BCs, one crossbred and one pure bred, was costing me about £30 per month but now will only cost me £18 and that is for £7000 per year, it is also a lifetime policy so they will cover any ongoing disease year after year and if you pay a little more you can get rid of the excess which is very useful.

i did look at loads of insurance companies on the internet but all the information and clause get on my nerves and because she was already insured with her breeder from petplan i just carried it on but it is very expensive so i think i will have to change. Thank you, Susan
