We are going on Monday, I just looked at the weather, it is saying it is now 23 degrees (it has gone 6 o'clock in the evening!) and the sky is cloudless! :D :D Anyone been? What are the do's and don'ts?
Natalie
Me, I am going again in July! Where abouts you going?
It is an Iberostar/Louis hotel called, Louis Regency Beach, it is on its own on a hillside about 2km from Benitses (south east), where have you been/going?

Don't go to Kavos. I went to Corfu a few years ago with some female friends and we went out for a night in Kavos (not realising what it was like). It was unbelievable and made you ashamed to be British. We also had no end of trouble with some of the Greek bar staff - we were just there for some quiet relaxation but (perhaps unsurprisingly given the goings on in Kavos) most Greek men think that English women on holiday are just fair game. By the end of the holiday we had decided it was not worth going out in the evening. I'm sure you would have a very different experience if you avoided this area and were with a partner, however. Corfu Town is quite nice for a day out, as are the snorkelling trips.
Hi, I am going to the North of the Island, it is still fairly quiet and I agree don't go to Kavos, not been myself but you will see from the loads of young ones at the airport (I am only 23 myself!) that it will not be an experience you will forget. I loved Corfu a couple of years ago and that's why I am going again this year, very hot but the only annoying habit to get out of is flushing loo roll down the loo!
Well Enfielrotts, I am only 21, but as boring as it sounds, I would rather stay at the hotel bar than go clubbing anyway! Maybe when I was younger I would have given it a go, but I am too old for that now (or at least I feel it!!! :D )
Hi Rosemarie,
I am going with OH and our 3 year old little boy, so we won't be out clubbing anywhere! I have heard the stories about Greek men before, will stay with my hubbie! We are going to go to Corfu Town for the day, and we would love to try the snorkling, but little one is too young :( The weather is looking OK - could be better though, but having said that, our son hasn't been abroad before, so it will probably be a good job it isn't too hot!

Just reading some of these reminds me when I was 21 and went to Sorrento in Italy with my boyfriend, his mother, his brother and sister-in-law and their 2 yr old son. We were walking down the hill to the shops one day when an italian man pulled up in his car and asked if I was staying at the Brittania and so I just said yes and we all walked on. When we got back up to the hotel in the afternoon he was waiting for me in his car and expected me to go out with him (and my boyfriend was with me as well) His mother stood on the hotel steps shouting 'You can take me out if you want'. My boyfriend was quite annoyed and wanted to punch him one. :-)
LOL@Anna bet you wish you had have gone out with him now?!!! :D I would have, where did you say you were? LOL

No Natalie, actually my boyfriend was only 23 and nice looking but the man who followed me back was short, fat and balding with a sports car :-(
I got one like that!!! I'm only kidding, he probably isn't everyones cup of tea, but he is lovely to me :D Mind you I always go for the underdog!!! LOL He can be such a woman though at times! I recently shaved his hair off (with his permision!) he is slightly balding, and he is sooooo worried about getting sun burn on his VERY small bald patch he won't let me cut his hair again, and it is starting to favour a big fuzz ball now!!! I have told him there is NO WAY I am going on holiday with him looking like that, but he still won't let me cut it! Grrrr.... men :(

Hi Natalie,
Didn't mean to cause any offence to short, fat balding men but this one was in his 40's and seemed ancient to me at the time, although now I'm in my 40's perhaps it doesn't seem quite so ancient :-) :D
My OH looks better as he is getting older - except his hair, why won't he let me cut it? LOL I don't give my son a choice, it is a case of "sit down, sit still, and watch the telly!!!" maybe I should do the same with OH? LOL

Im going to Corfu in June to Sidari, ive never been before either!

I did a week in Kavos with the girls a few years ago, it was great (I would have been about 23 at the time) the beach was naff but the night life was excellent - even went to a foam party !!!! I also went on a few day trips to other parts of the Island and I must admit it is a beautiful place. We never had any problems with the locals and met up with a cracking group of lads who we still keep in touch with :)
everyone has to do an 18 - 30's holiday at some point in their life ;)

We have been to sidari 3 times and love it, were not going this year due to a house move (fingers crossed ) but boy id love to be going again. try the three little pigs for meals out they do all the greek dancing whilst you eat. the trips throught the reps are very expensive, well they are when you have 3 kids and significant other to pay for! we hired a car and found our way to most of them anyway, a lot cheaper and you werent hearded about like cattle. have a trip to Kassiopi , just a little farther around the top of the island, it is gorgeous.
john

Oh thats good then, thanks, hope i enjoy it too xx
Before we booked to go to Corfu, we had booked to go to Tunisia, just looked at the weather in Tunisia, 26 degrees, I think we should have gone there!!! We could have put up with ants and cockroaches in the beds and all of the rest of the bad things that were said about the hotel we had booked!
We went last year to San Stefanos ( top west of the Island -apparently theres another one top East  ) -we enjoyed it -lovely beaches -lovely Tavernas -Its a very green Island so has spectacular views -the water Park near Corfu town is well worth a day out ( book it indepandantly not through the rep -its far cheaper ;) ) -I would imagine this time of year its gonna be nice in the day but a litle cooler in the evenings -that said we went to Kefalonia at this time of year and it was boiling !
Edited to add - I've travelled alot in Greece and I've always felt perfectly safe -The Greeks love families and children -when ours where little is wasn't uncommon for them to be whisked into the kitchen and fed titbits whilst we were eating -kids get given sweets in shops and bars they are lovely people .
Ps -if you've never been to Greece before the toilet system can be a shock -but its ok ;) and a Please and Thankyou in greek goes a long way ;)
Natalie, I would rather stop in too - last time we went me and the OH went out for dinner and stopped back at the hotel for a few drinks but was normally in bed by 10 - the heat takes it out of ya! We have just come back from majorca and it was about 19/20 deg there which was lovely, it was quite hot if you sat in it for a while but still bareable so Corfu should be nice - its was 30 deg some days when I went in June before!
Before I got pregnant we went away quite a few times, we would spend all morning walking to the beach, stopping at every bar on the way, then spend an hour or so at the beach, and spend the afternoon coming back to the hotel from the beach , stopping at every bar! We would then 'have a kip' (!) and get ready to go out at night, but only to the hotel bar. When we went to Tenerife, we did once venture into Veronica's Strip - NEVER AGAIN!!! We much prefer to sit and watch the (always cheesy) hotel entertainers and have a glass of wine in the bar than going out to the clubs, god I sound about 60, not 21!!! :D
Thanks Cat, we will keep all of that in mind! :D The hill behind the hotel is covered in fir trees, it looks lovely in the brochure, but we have been warned of the giant wasps, which I am not looking forward to!
My Aunt lives on Zakynthos(sp?) she says it is lovely at the moment, not too hot, but not chilly. I will be happy if it is at least 18-19 degrees, would love it warmer than that, but with the little-un don't want it too hot.
