I've ever had from my neighbours :(
Their plants have all died that were next to the fence adjoining my dog run  and they've only just told me :(
so I'm going to have to have a rethink as to what I use to clean my paving slabs in there.  I've obviously been sloshing too much water down if its draining away next door but I use two products as well.  Not always at the same time.  I've been using domestos bleach which I don't doubt would kill off plants and grass and Trigene disinfectant that I'm not sure about
I'm absolutely horrified by this and never noticed as it's through a double slatted wooden fence so I can't see and they haven't said anything till now :(
So are there any plant friendly disinfectants out there? or detergents or something?  I've never had this problem before.

I don't know of any after all you are asking it to kill germs which are living things.  Any posibility of relaying the flags with a run on them away from the neighbours property and then being careful not to slop any over the edge.  Are you buying them any new plants although might have to wait 6 months to plant them ;) :)

Moving the run's not an option :( - no,  maybe Homebase vouchers so they can build a wall ;)

No, I meant just relaying the floor of the run so it tilts away from the neighbours and consequently the water doesn't run that way :)  A wall would not do, just 'cos they can't see you any more doesn't mean they won't know it's you :p :D

Darn it that's that idea out the window :(  :D
No unfortunately I've got astro turf on sand down as well as slabs so water, including rain water would seep through that and go underneath.  I can stop the jetwashing and hosing and use a mop and bucket which isn't a problem really but I'm going to have to change what chemicals I use.

Hi Lara, it is possibly just the bleach that is killing the plants.  I use trigene and my run is straight onto my flower bed.  At the very edge of the run I have my roses, and some flowering shrubs, and all have survived the 4 years they have been there with this treatment, But I do not use bleach, I use a very mild solution of Jeyes Fluid.Which must be rinsed completely away and completely dry before allowing pets back onto treated surface.  I am assuming that, because of the much dilution this has not affected any of my plants.  The other problem that may be causing the death of the plants, could be the urine which has seeped through onto the other side.  I noticed that I had a trench under my hedge which stopped draining. I just, very slightly tilted a couple of the paving slabs to re-direct the 'flow'.

I use a plastic basin and yard brush for the distribution of the jeyes fluid and scrub with that, then simply high power hose for a good 10-15mins.

I think Dr Shipman used it.

For what purpose did he use it, DD? (Not a dig, genuinely looking for information.) After all, I expect he used toothpaste and a hairbrush too! ;) :D

Can you lay a drain to divert the watery bleach away from your next-doors border?
HTH, Aims

No I'm just going to stop using the bleach, but thanks anyway :)

  Thought Dr Shipman used diamorphine for all its relevance ;)

Thanks Kay - I'll stick with the Trigene.  I've got a cat so Jeyes Fluid is out of the question.
I think it's the bleach too now that you get away with using Trigene safely.
Thanks :)

Hi Lara, I have a cat too (inherited when daughter moved to city) I just make sure she is in the house until the paving slabs are completely dry.  I also used to use trigene and jeyes fluid to clean out the cat pens when I was with the CPL many years ago.  Once dry there is no danger.  Although it depends on what your flooring is, I think slabs dry quicker than concrete.  To be honest, the trigene is enough to keep it well disinfected, It use the jeyes fluid to keep any smells at bay. :) Habit more than anything else.

This is what I have done with my runs.. Dug a large hole and buried into it a lidded barrel with holes drilled in the base and about a quarter way up, Then attach a piece of guttering to edge of slab and directly into bucket. The water drains away into the ground below ;) You can also use water storage tanks (the type you get in lofts) as they come with lids, or water butts from garden centre. It takes a bit of digging mind :(
Edited to say
If its only one run a large bucket may suffice?
