Hi all, just wondering if you can offer a bit of advice.  18 month old labrador who is a nightmare to walk!  Read through some threads regarding different types of halti/harness things and decided to try the dogmatic one.  Yesterday we only managed to get 100 yards on her walks because she is trying desperately to get the thing off!  Clawing at it, rubbing her face on the path etc.  Obviously I don't want her to hurt herself.

It is only on the way to the park that she is hard work and I know it is just excitement and that she is still young but by the time we get there for her off lead exercise I am knackered and my hand is almost blistered trying to keep her to heel or at least not to pull as hard!!

At training class food was always used to try and get her to walk nicely but this doesn't really work now and only encourages her to jump up at my pockets all the way there too!

Also have tried another harnesss thing (forget the name) but i didn't like it going under her arms as i was worried that would rub and make her sore - she actually runs away from me on sight of that one!

Any ideas gratefully received.

I love my Dogmatic and yes, it takes a while to get them used to having it on but they do eventually  Don't let her claw at it or rub her face ...just offer a small bit of a treat and get her to walk on and tell her how good she is. Every time she stops to claw at it , just give her a small tug, offer the treat and get her to walk on

Charlie has been wearing a headcollar from the day we got him and still tries now (6 month on) to get his off occassionaly, usually when he has had a go at another dog and is stressed.
He tries to hide every time I get it out to put it on him but once the nose bit is on he's fine.
