What breed is he?
How much do you feed him?
What do you feed him?
If your diet is alright, it may be an underlying health problem.

Do you use the treats ??
...yes, I first bought them from the states...I got them for my dog that was getting a bit arthritic and was surprised to see that after a few weeks he'd become a lot 'brighter', if you know what I mean...I was so impressed with the visible changes in him (improved coat, more energy, brighter eyes) that I take the Complex and the Oxy-Drops myself, now. The major difference that I found was that I don't get the muscle fatigue that I used to, a few months ago I could only walk a hundred yards or so before my calf muscles wanted to go home. I don't have that problem at all now. Even apparently healthy dogs can benefit from the treats...I recommended the treats to a friend with a very healthy looking 7 year-old flat-coat retriever. He didn't believe they would make much difference, but tried them anyway. He was very surprised to see the extra bounce in his dog in only a few weeks. The occasional limp that the dog had also disappeared. I suppose it's the detoxing process that the treats promote that makes the difference, the less toxins in the body, the more efficiently it can perform. One drawback, however, if you take them yourself...be prepared to cut your hair and nails more often, for some reason mine regrow at a heck of a rate!

Thanks for your reply I have gone ahead and ordered some both for me and my GSD. How often would you give them to my GSD
The treats are for daily use. The directions for use are with the product but basically the dosage depends on the weight of the dog. For all dogs a double dose is given for the first 2 weeks (detox period). Dosage is 1 treat per 60lbs of body weight (or part thereof), so for a 75lb dog the dosage would be 4 treats per day for the first 2 weeks and 2 treats per day thereafter. They say that the NZYMES Granules are a cost effective alternative for larger dogs (over 60lbs). They are the base formula for the Treats and come in a 2lb tub that would last about 6 months for a 75lb dog. Either way, they recommend starting all dogs on the Treats because of their improved formula.

If you're really worried, I'd get a blood test done - check his thyroid esp.
