We are getting a golden retriever pup on sunday,
we have been looking for fold-flat cages at reasonable prices between £30-£50
with not much we are happy to order one off a secure website i ewas just wondering does anyone know of any good websites with car cages around the right price a that would be big enough for 1-2 fully grown golden retriever bitches.

I'm afraid that unless someone is willing to sell you one second hand fairly cheaply, you may need to spend much more than this. My cage is 3 ft (Dobermann puppy 7 months) and MAY last him forever or may not be big enough for forever and cost me £90 which is reasonable (when I compared prices).

For one fully grown golden retriever I would imagine this is the kind of size you'd need. Not convinced though that you'd get two in unless they top'n' tailed it big time :D :D

argos do one that will be ok while its a baby, then try and get yourself to a show and pick one up from there, the other way is your local admag, theres often second hand ones in there, where abouts are you?

Dog World (and I assume Our Dogs) the weekly dog papers always have adverts for crates in them

I actually put an ad in the blue/yellow paper as WANTED and got about 20 phone calls ..not only did I get one but my freind did also..

Where abouts do you live? I know a place where they sale cages quite cheaply. They're not the easiest folding ones but they're good for the price.

have you looked in 'loot' the free ads paper theres are plenty in there

The closest price I can find for a new crate on the web is from Stock Nutrition at £64 for a 36x25x27 crate, and £74 for a 42x25x27, both with free "Dry" bedding.

Do you have a Jollyes pet store anywhere near you, my local one had some pretty large Hagen folding cages for about £48 ish. I originally bought one about 6 mths ago for our Shiba pup but took it back as it was way too big, poor little fellow needed a map to find the door! we got the med size one from argos but now we've got a rotty pup as well looks like I'll be going back to buy the large one again!! ;)

If you have a large breed - to save buying two crates (one for puppy days, one for adulthood) try using a cardboard box at the back of the crate to 'shrink' the crate.........

Hi, I bought a cage from Stock Nutrition, its smaller than you will need though, but its black metal and I find its a good cage, only cost me £29. but, they have them in larger sizes, they also do mail order.

I bought a crate from Stock nutrition which folds flat and was very reasonably priced. It also came with free vetinary bedding and I would recommend them.

I have just bought one from Moncaster. It was the black powderciated type which is a bit cheaper than the gold ones. It is 42 inches by 28inches by 31 inches tall. I didn't need the extra height (my old crate is 3 feet by 2 feet by 27 inches tall, and took two Elkhounds at a pinch). It has two doors, one in long side and other in short, so makes it more flexible in it's uses. It cost me £59.31 plus p+p!

This is the size my friends use for dobermanns, and will take my two Elkhounds on their Holland trip in July comfortably for use in hotel room! I would imagine you would need one this size for two retrievers.

I am very pleased with the crate, it weighs 13kg!
