Please can I have some advice!
For the last 2 weeks on and off my 11 month old pup has been eating grass and being sick. There does not seem to been anything wrong with my pup, as he is still running around like mad and does not seem ill what so ever, he is not off his food and is going to the toilet fine (apart from lots of grass in the poo).
I have been feeding him BARF since the age of 6 weeks (not that I think this is the problem) and the sick is yellow bile and usually first thing in the morning or last thing at night. As soon as he goes out he just starts to eat the grass only in our back garden not when out for walks.
any ideas??
I don't know very much about it, but I think it is nomal, someone will come along soon and know much more, but I know you can buy grass in a tub for inside the house for the dogs (and cats) to eat, and that it does say on it that it may make them sick, it is something to do with the digestive system, as I say someone will come along and know a lot more than me.
Some dogs do do this and it doesn't do them any harm. I'm sure that my Spanish are half cow as they love to chew grass :d
My dog's love grass too, there doesn't seem to be a reason for it, they just do!
The yellow bile is normal, if it was food you should be concerned.
Dogs aren't like us. They will throw up at the drop of a hat if something disagrees with them, just to get it out of their system. Not like us who sit around all day feeling rough and then throw up once & feel even worse after!!!

I have heard that yellow bile is the result of an empty stomach- how many meals is he on at present? :)
Hi lel i was just going to type the same thing it is from an empty stomach it would be a good idea if you fed your dog late at night so he has something in his stomach he will then stop pucking bile it's due to excess acid i think can't remember exactly why but feeding him late of a night and early in the morning should cure it. It's nothing really to worry about.

Now you mention the empty stomach thing, I remember my friend who is a vet nurse saying that one of her bitches throws up when she's hungry.
I have only just read it recently but can't remeber where, i hate it when that happens.

my male dog now 15 yrs has always had this yellow bile problem I found that it was because of the empty stomach and always give him arrowroot or digestive bis morn and night he has been fine ever since.

All dogs eat grass & it seems they're eating it with gusto at the moment as it's all the new growth!! How many meals a day is your puppy on? You could try giving a light supper just before you go to bed, it could be something like a chicken wing or even just a tablespoon of mince. Hopefully this will help him :-)
My experience has been the same as Starryeyes, Frank etc.
Dogs do eat grass but sicking up bile means they are not entirely comfortable.
My dog needs a very light snack first thing in the morning, about 7am :) This usually stops the problem.
I noticed the condition also improved when i changed diets. We are on Hills now because of a colitis problem, although I am seeking to get her more natural in time.
