Well, we had Daisy for the day,  and when we took her back to the Dogs home at 4pm, like they said, they said would we like to take her now, so we said yes !
She had to be microchipped first though.
She was really tired this evening and slept for 1 1/2 hours !  Then she had a really mad playtime, the kids 14 & 12 are a bit nervous of her as they`ve never had a dog before.  and she has been playbiting quite a bit, she gave me quite a nasty nip on myarm ! and I have a nice bruise coming.
She started getting over excited again just now, so I put her in her crate, and shut the door. she`s in the same room as us,so she`s not on her own, she`s now gone to sleep again. Is this the right thing to do ?

i think you did the right thing. Sometimes puppies just need too cool off, but try not to make going into her crate into punishment, or you will never get her to go in there of her own accord.
As for play biting, ive found the best way to wean them off this is to make your hand into a fist when they try, make a high pitched squeal and ignore them for a minute, they soon get the idea that you dont find the play biting fun! :-)

Yes! Puppies, just like small children, find it impossible to regulate their activity, and it's very easy for them to get over-stimulated, over-tired, and distressed. This is where we need to call for time-out. With a child, you sit down and quietly read a book, or put it down in a cot for a sleep. With pups you have to do the same (obviously not sitting down with a booK!) but being put down for a nap is an excellent thing to do.
