My Jack Russell terrier had pups 3 months ago...she was a very good mum and everything went well.
Since the pups have gone she has been a nightmare...hyperactive all the time, can't relax, and has now started destroying things whilst I am out...remote control,magazines...anything which is left around actually.
Really worried about her as she seems to have changed since the pups...it was an unplanned pregnacy (another thread)but she coped so well until now.
She seems to be getting worse by the day.
Any ideas as to why she is like this and what I can do?

Thanks for the reply...really want to get her spayed but i'm worried as she has been through so much already and is definately not herself at the moment...my vet has been most un helpful from beginning to end of this whole saga, hence looking for a new one, that I can rely on,to give me good advice etc.

Hi, as Brainless suggested it could be that she is coming in season again shortly, and Bella my puppy was a nightmare leading up to, during and for a week or so after her first season, She completely forgot her house training, went deaf to commands and started shredding newspapers over night, stolen from the table/sofa and was generally a silly-billy for weeks. She is back to normal now except she has a liking for newspaper still - came down this morning to read the mammoth saturday paper with all the supplements to find she has shredded the lot! I am sure you will keep her safe during th next season, and be careful not to let her get caught again. :-) I would ring round all the local vets in your area to-morrow and speak to one of the small animal vets and see which one you get on well with, its also worth asking how much they would charge for neutering/booster vaccinations as it can vary greatly from practise to practise. I woudn't mention "poor" treatment by your present vet, as they all know each other usually, and it may get you labelled as a "difficult client"!! Its important to have a vet you trust and get on with NOW, you never know when you may need one quickly. ask around your pet owning friends too, as recommendation is the easiest way of finding the right vet. I travel a round trip of 50 miles, passing 2 or 3 other vets on the way, to my vet, who is totally wonderful, though sadly very expensive, but he's worth every penny - he handles my dogs kindly , listens to what i have to say and has never been wrong yet - his first diagnosis/treatments are always right.
