Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / ARE WE SUITED FOR A GOLDEN RETRIEVER??
- By Guest [gb] Date 24.04.05 16:32 UTC
Hi, I have a 2 yr old cavalier girl.  I am seriously considering getting a golden retriever or lab.  I am out of the house from 8.15am to 3.15pm and my cavi has the run of the downstairs.  She is as good as gold and I assume she sleeps whilst we are out.  How do you think a golden retriever/lab would be with this sort of
arrangement??

I think that a Labrador would be bored and destructive with so much free time without somebody around to train and entertain. I'd guess a Golden Retriever would be much the same.

Ditto Dawn, retrievers can be very destructive if they get bored

Labradors and Retrievers do get very destructive if left for too long.  Labradors especially needs load of exercise  when adult, they are both intelligent/working minded dogs so get bored quite quickly.  Mine personally like a nibble on digital cameras and remote controls!
