Topic Dog Boards / Showing / White paw-fault?
- By kerrieddbx [gb] Date 23.04.05 11:34 UTC
A friend of mine has just been placed second in  SBT puppy class, at an all breeds open show, but something the judge said has puzzled her...'if it hadnt been for the white paw, he'd have won the class!'
Now he is a black/brindle SBT with white chest and white paw at the front, as far as I am aware this is not a fault or 'undesireable' in our breed, any ideas?

It is neither undesireable or a fault. Are you sure she heard properly?

absolutely sure, the judge pointed to his foot and said it was a shame as he was such a nice dog?! My friend is new to showing and was completely stumped. She phoned me and asked what I thought (as I bred him), and I said as far as I was aware it wasnt a fault or undesirable, but maybe the judge thought he would have looked better had he been completely black? Or maybe its the only thing that he didnt like about him (between him and the winning dog)? Doent seem right to me tho.......still ya win some ya lose some ;)

could simply be that the white paw spoiled an otherwise nice overall picture

but he shoudlnt have dropped you down the line because of it

what was the judges name ???

Havent got all the details yet-but I dont think it would be fair for me to say on a public board anyway-We'll make a note and not show under that Judge again

Hi, Yes it seems a very odd statement to make. I have a black brindle bitch with one white toe at the front one on one back foot and 2 on the other back foot shewins very well and no judge has ever comented on her white toes. Still i supose we all have different thoughts about things.
All the best Gwen

Either she heard wrong, or the judge is drunk !!

Let us know when you find out more.
