I have a 5 yr old St Bernard bitch who has had cystitis on and off for the past 6 months?!!! ever since we moved house, i thought the stress may have brought it on, but she seems to have settled in well now. but it still comes bk, she gets a sore vulva, and keep licking it.
she has been vets three times and each time on a course of Synulox for2-3 weeks. it clears up & comes bk again? Vet has also sampled her urine and found nothing wrong? i also give her cranberry squash in her water which seems to help and wash her 'bits' with Hibiscrub. This does help her, but it doesnt stop it coming bk?
Has anyone had this happen to their bitch? I have been trying to read up on it but not found anyone to relate to?
She is goin bk to vets in the mornin... :(
Any ideas why it keeps coming bk?
She had a really bad bout of kennel cough about a year ago and since then when she is ill - she is REALLY ILL. her immune system doesnt seem to have recovered from it?
Any suggestions wld be much appareciated!

I'd be interested in knowing how old she was when she was speyed......

she was 2 when she was speyed

My Beardie used to get re-occuring bouts of cystitis, from around age 5 or 6(she is no longer with us). She ended up with bladder stones and needed an operation to remove them when she was 8 years old. Has the vet tested for stones? I'ts worth investigating!

i will def mention it to the vets.
i wld have thought that was something they wld have tested the urine for or do i have to ask for that particular test?
I have read up on 'yeast infections' and have bought some cranberry tablets and some Echinea tablets to boost her immune systems! :)
oh and plnty of Bio yoghurt for the good bacteria!
