After 4 years of showing I thought I'd mastered entry forms....OBVIOUSLY NOT!
I have got a sched for Cheshire county show.We have no breed classes and so I usually enter AVNSC knowing that Best AVNSC qualifies for the group. However AVNSC is a mixed hound/gundog/terrier class...so how can you qualify for a group if the AVNSC is mixed???

Are you sure the show is judged on the group system?!

OK, have thought about it and that would've explained in nicely but now I'm confused too!
To go froward for the group your dog has to be unbeaten upto that point, but say if there was an Elkhound, a Wire(eg Idõ!) and a terrier in the class(i'm assuming there is just one class, open?) and your dog wins, I come second and the terrrier gets third. That means your dog is an unbeaten hound and therefore goes onto group, as best NSC hound. But then mine is an unbeaten gundog so I, theroetically go to the group. We both get G1, but then your has already beaten mine so at BIS mine is a beaten dog!!!
Confused? Me too!!
I would assume the dog that wins the class and therefor BNSC goes to the group, whichever it belongs to, and the others go home!!!
This is just guessing though, MM where are you?!! We need your help!!!

Just phoned the secretary....Best AVNSC is decided from all AVNSC classes and then BEST AVNSC qualifies for his/her group

That is patently unfrair as the beaten dog could easily win their own group or place in the group! I don't see how this can accord with KC rules? Anyone with the red book aroudn as I am pretty sure that shows on the group system have to have AVNSC for each Group???? It is only logical, they can'be a group and non group show at once. The AVNSC breeds are being judged on non group and others on group system.

Brainless, I'm not 100% on the rules so couldn't tell you what the rules say but I don't think there is such a rule as I can name one champshow which has multi group AVNSC classes, namly Richmond, and only the BAVNSC has gone into their group. After all the rules state on the lines of all unbeaten dogs to go into the group. You wouldn't get away with for example BOB Aussie then going into rare breeds and going Res.RB behind a malamute could not go into the pastoral group even though beaten by a working dog!

As Jean Walter Brown lives in that County and seem very up on her KC rules why don't you tell her about this anomaly, she seems to know a lot of the people who are club secretaries and show organisers.

The winner of AVNSC will go into their group, no-one else does because they are beaten! This will mean only oone group will ahve an AVNSC winner in it.
Many champshows work on this principle.
