Today we had the inspection from the Dogs Home, and we passed !!   On Monday we are having the puppy for the day, just to make sure we still want her, we have to get her back to the dogs home by 4pm, then hopefully we will be able to bring her home  for good the next day !  She has to be microchipped first.

She is a 12 week old collie cross. The name the dogs home have given her is April, as she was a stray. But we are going to call her Daisy ! And Sophie my 14yr old daughter wants her to have April as her second name !    We are very excited .

Isn't there a lot to buy - and when we have a puppy we always get masses of stuff.  And great to hear you are going to try a crate.  But I must say that my puppy took a long while to get used to it.  He is a very vocal dog anyway and at first I just left him for about 5 minutes but he cried so much.  In the end I put him in and if he was quiet for just 15 or 20 seconds I got him out, lavished praise on him and gave him a special titbit only used for crate training.  I left the door open all the time and suddenly without any encouragement he started to go in by himself.  He now loves the crate and when we are benched at shows we set it up and he leaps in with great glee.  But of course all dogs are different and you may have no problems at all.  But just a warning that it might be difficult and DON'T give up - it really is worth it - the dog gets so much security.

Good luck and get some piccies posted

I`m only going to put her in the crate at night, and when I leave for work, but my husband works nights, and he gets up about an hour after I leave, so she `s not going to be in there for very long.
I only work 10 hours a week, so will be with her most of the time.
I also get home from work at the same time as my husband leaves, if there will be a time when I am a bit later , he will put her in the crate, till I get home.
The kids are aged 12 and 14, and will be there, but I think that will be for the best until she`s bigger
