I'm glad your still here. We're not a bad bunch...just very passionate.
We all get very frustrated at these idiots who con people into thinking these cute crosses with cute names are a proper breed and are healthier than any others....and then charge horrendous prices to boot

of course there will never be any "good" breeders of Xs that dare come on here due to the ...climate.
There are enough breeds in the WORLD without crossing breeds that look similar to these crosses. Things with crosses are that you really don't know which breed they will look like the most.
Some people may call me as I've imported a different breed from the ones that are in this country but we all have different tastes.
I'm sure as others have said if you go to a dogs home you may be able to find one of these crosses at about a 10th of the price.

I simply cannot understand why anyone would intentionally breed a cross! There are thousands of crosses in rescue already (as well as pedigrees) so I can't get my head round people doing this on purpose (obviously money helps!)
Surely the purpose of breeding dogs is to improve and benefit the breed. As a labradoodle or maltipoo (or whatever strange concoction of breeds is fasionable this week) is NOT a breed how can they be improved?
Michelle said "if you saw her LD show/renoiun each year, the uniformity in type." Obviously this 'breeder' has been lucky that her dogs do look similar as genetics don't work that way. Breeding one designer cross to another (2nd generation) will not necessarily produce dogs that look the same as each other, never mind their parents.
No responsible breeder would purposely breed a cross - it is irresponsible and the morals, motivation and ethics of that person should be questioned.
Emma

are you calling me a liar then emma?

I was given a wesite for the breeders (abroad) of one of these popular designer dogs. It seems that they are now finding that there are problems with severe ear infections, slack toplines and weak loins and they are concerned that without improvement this "breed" may suffer skeletel disorders...so they have now introduced a new breed into the mixture. So much for "hybrid vigour"

well hopefully NO one would buy from them!!!! & i would never suggest that they should EVER

But these are some of the people who started the "breed" and set up the council for that breed - this is the result of years of breeding this particular cross!

well all i can say that IF they know then they can do something about it cant they. ? they can test & try to breed it out like any one else.after all no breed is without its problems, & if they DONT,well then i wouldnt touch with a BP
ive really had enough now.this is my last post on this thread.
dont tar EVERYBODY with the same brush its not fair. & if anyone else calls me a liar i will see it as a personal attack & against TOS. afterall i have NO personal interest in the breed & nothing to gain

But that wont help the ones already bred with these disorders will it? Yes there are problems in every breed, but in existing breeds people are doing their best to put things right that went wrong generations ago - these people have themselves created these health problems by designing these dogs! :(

Michelle I am not calling you a liar - I'm not as childish as your retorts imply you are.
I am simply stating my opinion, and stating the FACT that genetics don't work like that - you will not get a dog that looks like it's mother and father if they are second generation designer breeds - if you do then it is pure luck and coincedence. Don't you think that is why experienced breeders research pedigrees and lines to imporove their breeding? Recessive genes in 1st generation designer crosses may not be seen until generations later, meaning these puppies will not look like a maltipoo (or whichever designer cross) as they ARE NOT A BREED

No-one's calling you a liar, Michelle, just as you are putting across your point, so are we putting across our points of view!
That's what a forum is all about.

Margot
Emma do you have to be that nasty? You can get your opinion accross without it becoming a personal attack.

Margot
Sorry Margot, not you, I was typing at the same time as you then :-)

So it's ok for other people to be personally attacked as long as they are in the majority? I've seen it over and over on here when people come out with sensible advice which may be hard to hear but should be heard (such as Archer, Jeangenie and Ice Queen) who are constantly attacked for being 'critical' and 'unfriendly'. If people want advice they have to be prepared for an answer that might not be nice.
I feel very strongly about thi issue as I work with a charity trying to ban the sale of puppies in pet shops. 'Designer' crosses only add to the problem.
Emma
I too feel very strongly about this issue but I also beleive that you can say what you want to say in a better way! Everyone has their own opinions and beleifs which they want to get accross to people, but please just think when writing your response. There is no need to be unfriendly and adrupt in your answers to get your point accross. That is all I am saying, not that you are right or wrong etc. There are certain people who do come accross as unfriendly.
Thank you :-) At least there are other people who feel there is no need for nastiness

As I've said before, this is a forum of people, the majority of whom are absoultely committed to their dogs, the wellbeing of dogs and exchanging information on dogs. This isn't a cute, fluffy forum

!
It isn't the intention of members of Champdogs to lunge, bark, growl and yelp at other posters, but sometimes, it seems as if the message just doesn't get across to some people!! Our views on deliberate cross breeding are well-known, and if posters come on here, time after time, defending what is, in the opinion of the majority of us, the indefensible, they must expect a (verbal) savaging!!!
Margot
But half of these guests don't know that it has been talked about before, do you expect them to read all the posts? They just want info and I think you are all right in giving it but in a better put way. There are some troll posts I know and I really don't know why you lot fuel them time after time, that is what they want. This doesn't have to be cute and fluffy but in the rules of this forum it does say to be polite etc.

Why bring the names of people who haven't posted on this thread into it? It would seem that you have a personal axe to grind - take such attacks to PM please.
Margot
Why don't you just back off!
it doesnt have to be fluffy theres just ways and means of speaking to people. :)

Unfortunately occasionally there's the odd person (emphatically
NOT aimed at anyone in particular!) who think any disagreement/discussion/questioning of their view is a vicious personal attack. They will only be happy on a pointless, fluffy 'Stepford Wives' board where everyone agrees with everything. This ain't it!
:)
Emma has an attitude problem i think!!!! so does Icequeen.
Think before you post i'd say.
I think there should be another warning on the guest posts, not just the troll warning, but a warning to the guests that if they dare mention anything that has already been discussed on here they will get savagely attacked.
i recon there should be to.
