How long should a wait after spaying until I can wash my puppy?  She was spayed Tuesday morning.

Anyone?

There aren't many of us around at this time of the morning!   Is there any particular reason you feel the need to bath her?   If the wound area is stained with disinfectant solution for example that will do no harm to her.  You could wash her down gently underneath with a damp sponge or flannel if she seems uncomfortable but if you have a particular concern it is best to ask your vet's advice - she will still be tender not only around the wound area but internally too.

If it is simply because you prefer to bath your dog(s) regularly, I would have thought that at least 10 days post-op would be the *absolute* earliest time but personally I wouldn't do it even then unless there is a specific reason to (such as she's managed to roll in fox poo   Regards, Teri :) 

Fox Poo?!  LOL  Too funny.  Not likely where I am.  ;)  I live in Arizona (usa) and it is 6pm here.

Anymeow, ... my concern is that she stinks for one... and for two my daughter pulled off a few ticks.  I am assuming that she was dipped when she entered the humane society's facility and that the few my daughter found were just a few straglers.

However, since our pup stinks I would like to give her a bath and a spray for the ticks. 

What if I set her in the tub... and used a pet sponge or a wash cloth to wipe her down and then spray her with the tick spray?   It is in a mist form... I would think that it would be ok as long as I didn't spray her tummy area.

Oh, and the surgery site... I don't see anything!  No cuts, flaps, stitches... nothing.  How is that possible?

Well it's past 2-00 am here and I should really be in bed :D    OK, so you don't have a fox poo problem (coyotes????) :D

Well, I can see why you'd want rid of the ticks - nasty, evil, disease carrying little #***#  I honestly don't know what products you use over there and the fact that there's a lack of operation site has me bewildered so I think I'd hold off until the morning and check with the vet's office on the phone at least.  They'd probably best be able to advise what you could safely use.  Poor baby - stinky and bug ridden :(  But she's obviously got a very caring Mum who can hopefully put up with the pong for one more night :P
