Going loopy at exactly the same place each day.
I am not new to dogs, but relatively new to Beardies (only had them 13yrs) and something very puzzling is happening with my boy Beardie aged two and three-quarters.
I have three routes I walk each day and one of them takes me up through the woods following a nearly dried up watercourse. Each time we start up the hill out of the watercourse, whether into the higher wood or up to the field, he starts to grumble and run around like a mad thing. The girls duck and weave to avoid him but sometimes he comes hurtling down from above us and knocks the girls over. When we get up into the body of the wood or into the field on the cliffs this manic behaviour stops.
Interestingly, the rescue Beardie boy I had before this did exactly the same thing at the same point. Makes me feel there may be a smell or something, which sets them off here. My rescue Beardie has been gone nearly 4 years now and they never met each other to learn this behaviour. PS is doesn't happen with the girls even if they are out without him.
Any ideas?

It's a man thing...................... :D :D
Hi your not alone on this one and as you say it puzzling, when i take my blue merles out for there walk we get to a certain part of the field and the one starts screaming like a banshy and starts leaping in the air pulling to get away as soon as i move from that certain spot it all stops and its back to normal i havent a clue why he does this because the other dosent
Maybe it is a man thing or could be a blue thing. Mines a blue Beardie.
i suppose we will both have to chooose a new route for our dogs to walk
Yes must admit I have been taking a different route but it means a few hundred yards on the road. I live in Cornwall and the two way road is more like a single track so I have to squeeze three dogs into the hedge every time a car passes.
It does save the hassle of being bombed by a very lively dog though.
PS I am very relieved that I am not going mad or subject to spooks after all. Many thanks for your thoughts,
Im glad to say that we both can admit that we are not going mad,i hope that everything works out for you and your dog and that he can overcome what ever has frightened him on his walk good luck
