Shampoo depends on the dog - if he's got sensitive skin, go for a hypoallergenic shampoo (puppy shampoos are usually hypo, or you can adult hypo stuff), otherwise any decent shampoo will do - I use Tropiclean and Proline shampoos, although they aren't widely available (I'm a groomer, so I need bigger bottles!!).  I used to use Johnson's and Bob Martin shampoos, BM I particularly liked.

Make sure you brush him at least every other day (every day is best), and always, always make sure you've got any and all knots and tangles out before he has a bath - mats in wheatens are hell to get out, as the fur is so soft - mats very easily if you don't keep on top of it.  In general though, you can leave the bathing to the groomer - wheatens usually need regular trips, unless you learn the cliping and so on yourself.

Hi there I have three wheaten terriers called Rosie, Lottie and Dougal. Lottie and Dougal are 8 months old.
If you don't want to groom them yourself then you should get them used to standing still and having you feel them, all over as it will make it easier when you eventually take her to the groomers. But try and be brave and maybe ask you breeder to show you how to trim and learn how to do it. Although it is a bit difficult it is not as hard as it looks. It you decide that you defiantly don't want to groom her take her to someone who knows a lot about grooming a wheaten.  Wheatens don't need a lot of bathing so we just bath them when they are dirty. Would love to hear a bit more about you wheaten. :) Where about do you live? Are you planning to show your pup?

Hi I was planning to show my pup but unfortunately we have found his pedigree listing to be wrong and the lady we bought him off is being investigated by trading standards at the moment , its a long story.
I live in Kidderminster, worcestershire and bought Fritz from Buckinghamshire, he is now about 24 weeks old. Were do you live???

Oh what a shame about your wheatie :( I live in Staffordshire. I have a friend who lives in Kidderminster who has two wheatens. Do you have any picture of your wheatie as I would love to see him? If you do maybe you could email me some and could send you a picture of my wheatens. :D
