That people who have more than one dog are the people that werent allowed to have one as a child? I wasnt and ive got 2 but want more. I also have 2 hamsters and 3 goldfish! My parents think im mad but if you ask me dogs are better than kids :D Even though i have an 8 yr old, my dogs do what i tell em without answering back!

I have 6 at present and I was born in a whelping box :D  My dad was a breeder and shower of Border Terriers and I was bought my very own dog for my 14th birthday. Think maybe this throws your theory out of the window a little ;)

Hi Minniedog, I was never allowed a dog as a child but now I have two with one on the way!
The sad thing is I think if I had been allowed one then I probably would have done something different with my life rather than working in a boring office!

Always had dogs, even when I was young.  I now have 4 living with me and 1 at my parents.  Do live on my own though with no man :d :d

When I was young we owned rough collies - I always wanted a house full. My Mum used to say "you'll never put up with all these dogs when you have your own house".....since I left home I have owned 2 rough collies, 3 yorkshire terriers, 1 rottweiler and 5 dobermanns and 5 cats, Oh and 2 kids now aged 19 and 21  :D  Sadly I am down to 1 yorkie and 2 dobes (and kids) although I am getting a puppy around November time if all goes to plan.

I was never allowed a dog as a child but then one day i begged my mum for a puppy and she got me a jack russell, we had this dog for about 4 weeks and i loved him then one day me and my mum took this dog for a walk and while walking these 2 people came up to us and said thats a nice dog, and my mum said "here take it" took the lead out of my hand and gave my dog away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cried for months and i've never forgiven her for it, hence the fact that we dont speak now.

Now since living away from home myself and my husband have always had dogs, at the moment i have a german shephard x and a staffy pup. And now i wouldn't be without a dog!!!!!!!!!!

I was always more interested in horses as a child, and eventually got one of those when I was 16 but unfortunatley had to sell him 3 months later as he was too much for me:(

Anyway, we got Chloe when I was 13 but it was my mam really who had wanted a dog, I'd had hamsters and rabbits around since I was 8 or 9 so I wasn't too bothered about getting a dog...until we went to see her litter then I started reading up and I practically ran home from school the day my parents picked her up and my friends still remember how excited I was that day :D

But it was me and my dad who persuaded her to get another(Kayla) and then I mentioned about a wire puppy(actually was on my list the xmas befroe last..as a joke!I was told to 'dream on'!!!) and we asked dad and he said he'd been thinking about it for about 6 months!

The rest is history and I wouldn't be without any of them now, but I wouldn't say I was denied a dog as a child and this has led us to have 3 now, as I said I never asked for a puppy, I wanted a pony! Its just natural progression, I think, when one dog reaches maturity(and light at the end of the tunnel in Kayla's case!) you start thinking about adding another....am enjoying Idõ's puppyhood but am already thinking about the next one :D

we had a 2 dogs when i was young, mum and dad bought a lab before i was born, 1st child of 4.. he use to guard the pram if i was outside ect. he lived till he was 8yrs old very bad back legs. then a few years later my mum kept leaving drawings and pictures about of a basset hound hint hint. Then dad came home with one, we had him a few years but my dad died at the age of 34, i was 11 at the time. with 3 siblings younger than me. Mum couldnt cope but he went to a nice house, was a good stud dog too.I have a shar-pei and an african grey parrot. I wouldnt be with out any animals.

I grew up with dogs, and now have 3 of my own. I'm also keeping a puppy from my girls 3.5 week old litter, which will make 4. I really wanted to keep 2 but my house won't allow it :D (not advertising as they all have homes to go to) My OH on the other hand has never been near dogs in his life until he met me. I guess he was just waiting to be converted :D :D as it wasn't difficult at all. Now he says he would never not have a dog in his life!!!!

I fit in your theory :)

I was never allowed a dog as we had cats  I used to argue so how do we take a cat for a walk. Believe me I did try on several occasions but the cats never cottoned on to what they were supposed to do ! :D So went onto walking other peoples dogs :)

I now have three Labs :D

My Mum always tells me that when I was a tiny baby I learned to crawl cos I wanted to follow poor Amber (english cocker)around the house!! :D :D I was mad about dogs all through my childhood and things really havent changed much, just now I spend my days looking after them, my night studying about them, and my weekends showing them!! :D How will I ever find time for a husband!!??  :D
