I read an add for two bitchs for sale, in the add it said that the one was coming in to seson as though this was a good reason to buy her, it also said would make a great pet, some how it just made me feel sad. Like some one would buy her just to have pups and sell her on again. I just wondered what other people thought about this or its just me being over sensitive?

i posted the other day about ads in papers and how daft they were paticulary the latest craze of labradoodles!!! and dont think youre been over sensitive i to agree with you some people dont deserve dogs!!
- By jmo [gb] Date 21.04.05 09:32 UTC
No I don-t think you are being overly sensitive, some people would just buy the dog for that reason, but lets hope some dog lover sees the ad and buys the dogs and gives them a good home for life.

You are 100% right to think this is terrible .. It is.

I find it incredible people will sell dogs on this basis.  Sick is what I say and there is no excuse IMHO. I am sure someone will think it is OK but hopefully the majority will not. Yes they can say they will screen enquirers and find the best homes but with ads like that what kind of enquires are you going to attract.

A few years back I had a right barney with someone who did a similar ad, really it was none of my business but I couldn't help it.

Thank you. I am so glad that you agree, I feel so sorry for these animals, adds like these should not be allowed to be put out in the first place.

I know how you feel, i saw an advert in my local paper yesterday that angered me (and probably my boyfriend as I wouldn't stop going on about it!!!) It was for a 14 week old black labrador puppy from a large litter, the advert said DRASTICALLY REDUCED FOR QUICK SALE. I could not beleive my eyes, had I not got five of my own and (hopefully) a litter on the way, I would have bought this puppy myself to ensure it a good home, god knows where it will end up. If you are not prepared to keep puppies you can't rehome then you shouldn't have them in the first place. But these sots of things happen I have seen Pregnant bitches for sale before, one of then was only 11 months old. It breaks your heart to see it.

Oh my god!! That just brings tears to my eyes  :(

If ever i came into a load of money i would love to open a dog sanctuary and take all of these dogs in!

What a lovely dream :)

You are not being overly sensitive carlamaria. This is the very reason i avoid reading the free papers and dog sections because i always get so riled up and upset and more often than not i end up ringing one of them and arguing with the idiot that placed the add :o

It makes me so mad when i read these ads.  A friend of mine  got a 8 week old pedigree puppy with papers, from the local "dogs home". It was there with its brother, because the "BREEDER"  had to many puppies to sell, so they sent what they could`nt sell to the dogs home . :mad;

In the adtrader this week was staffie & pups free to good home :-(
- By ana_x [gb] Date 21.04.05 21:47 UTC
Well in a way, you should be glad they are willing to sell them and not do worse..
- By sarahanzorro [gb] Date 22.04.05 09:05 UTC
Worse.....what could be worse than being passed from home to home (if you can call them homes) never knowing how it feels to be loved....i hate to say it but in alot of case i think for the dogs sake it would be better if they were put to sleep rather than spend the rest of there lives suffering.

i know it sounds harsh and i hate to say it.

Sadly, I have to agree with you.

In alot of case's the dogs die anyway just a more horid death. a woman a few streets from me had a rottie x that had pups in the shed. she just left them no food, water for the mum when the RSPCA were called most of the pups were already dead and the rest had to be put to sleep, they did'nt even take the mum dog away a few months later she too had to be put to sleep. the woman now has another puppy. who knows what it's future will be like..but it's not looking good with her past record.

That's what I mean by WORSE. If the people obviously don't want them, there are worse things they could do to the dogs other than sell them on, abuse them... beat them... drown them... throw them in the dump etc.

sorry. i must have read your post wrong.

Did anyone read the advert in the dog paper this week for a beagle who would make a perfect brood bitch or pet.  Poor little soul I hope someone buys her for the later.
