Topic Dog Boards / General / Advice needed on worming large breed pup
- By Mellonz [in] Date 20.04.05 08:36 UTC
Hi
Am having conflicting advice re worming and would be grateful for your thoughts.
We collect our Irish Wolfhound pup in approx 10 days time.

Have been told to worm him with Panacur every 2 weeks and alternate with Shirleys.
Someone else said use Panacur once a month but each dose is done over 3 days, they said don't use Shirleys as there is evidence that it may possibly cause fits in large breed dogs?

So am in a bit of a dliemma

Any advice greatfully appreciated :-)

Panacur should be used in pups over 3days at a rate of 0.5ml per KG of pups body weight.  This is assuming you are using the 10% suspension.

This should be done monthly up to 6 months of age and then 4 times a year (only do mine twice a year once adult and whenever we have a litter leave evertyone gets dosed).
