Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Leaky bowel??

Hi there - its a while since I last posted but I wonder if anyone can help.  Archie is a 2 year old labrador who is in good health, lots of energy, eats well (complete diet x2 a day), drinks plenty, isn't constipated nor has the runs, is wormed regularly, doesn't appear to have a tender or distended abdomen and yet over the past few months on about 3 or 4 occassions, and whilst he's lying down, he has leaked a small amount of very dark greeny brown, thick odourless liquid from his rear end.  It is impossible to get off the carpet (not that that's the issue) and he seems totally unaware that he's done it.  Should I be worried? Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks
Cathryn

Sure it is not his anal glands (although this would be the first time I had heard of the contents being odourless) :D :D :D

Yes, I have seen this, or something similar. My vet is of the opinion that it is an anal gland discharge despite the fact that it is totally odourless.  (The twice my bitch has had her anal glands emtpied by the vet there was hardly any smell at all !!  He reckons the lack of odour is something to do with the diet).
