Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / BACHS flower remedies.

We have recently taken on a welfare dog (husky). We have noticed that the poor lad can suddenly become extremely unhappy (ie start to scream and pace in his crate) at random points during the night. The crate had been placed in a part of the room surrounded by lots of furniture (den like). However when we positioned his crate in the middle of the room he seems to sleep through.

Our conclusion is that maybe he has been shut in the dark somewhere for prolonged periods etc etc and thus prefers to sleep out in the open. I dont think it is the crate he has issue with.

Anyhow Im sure there are some of you who are quite familiar with the use of BACHS flower remedies. Im a relative novice in this area and will just have to read the books from cover to cover to get some inkling of what might be best to try him with. I would be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Has anyone had any experience of this type of behaviour before and can recommend how I can help him overcome it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Liz

Hi Liz,

I have no personal experience of your particular problems but if you contact a homeopathic vet or alternatively make enquiries to the makers of Bach Flower remedies they may be better able to advise you if you actually speak to them in detail about your specific problems.

I've also found Canine Natural Cures and Dorwest Herbs to be very good and both have given excellent advice to me in the past over the telephone about which products and in particular combinations of products can help overcome certain issues.

HTH, good luck, Teri :)

Thanks for all the advice. Hopefully combined with the advice we have received from the welfare team we can settle him in to the "normal" doggy bedroom area when the time comes. In the mean time if a "room with a view" is what he needs than so be it!
