Got up this morning, took him out to toilet and he done both wee and poo normallycome in and he took himself off to bed, scapped up his vet bed settled down and doesn't want to come out.
He has eaten no breakfast and doesn't want to play.  Occasionally he just turns round and lays down again.
He is a 12 wk old jack Russell and is normally wanting to run and play and sit on my lap. Not today so i am very worried.
He was fine last night playing as normal.
I have to go to work in a moment and will be back lunchtime.   Should I take him to vets if he is still quiet then?

What happened?

Sorry didn't get back sooner.
Vet could find no clinical signs except he looked off and shook like a leaf, so she gave him a long acting antibiotic and a pain killing injection.
An hour later he was bouncing happily everywhere and eating well.  Was still running round like a looney at 1am this morning, got up this morning and he has taken himself back to his bed and laying all scrunched up again, don't know what to think.
Could he be just tired?  Do some pups do this?  Two days ago he was rushing round excited in the mornings.
He ate well yesterday afternoon and evening but again this morning does not want his breakfast.
Should I take him back to the vets?  they are only open till 11.30 this morning until it swaps over to the very expensive emergency vet.

Hi Bev,

Just give them a ring first and ask if they think he needs to be brought back in.  That way you can either set your mind rest or they will tell you to come in :) With puppies it's so much better to be safe than sorry because they are so little and things can change very quickly with them.

Good luck and let us know how pup goes :)

Left him to sleep after my last post and went and done the horses, came home and he was full of it.  Took me 10 mins to get my laces tied on my trainers LOL.  He then tucked into breakfast and has been like a raving looney since.
Do I presume he is just not a morning puppy anymore and likes a lie in?

:D  Could well be!  My two adult dogs are like chalk and cheese.  When we get up in the morning one barges downstairs and demands to be let out to check out the garden in still in the same place etc etc, whilst the other staggers down and climbs on the sofa for another kip :)  Glad to hear your pup is on the mend!
